Join us for a Tenebrae service this Good Friday - April 18th @ 6:30pm.
Tenebrae is the Latin word for darkness. Many churches today adapt the pattern of the Tenebrae service (originally Holy Week Divine Hours of matins and lauds) to recall Christ’s journey toward death through readings and gradually extinguishing candles leading to the darkness of the tomb. The service concludes with a loud noise or tolling of the bell to represent the earthquake and Christ breathing his last. All is dark except the Christ candle, which is returned to the sanctuary representing the hope of resurrection. This Good Friday, we will worship through the Tenebrae structure to ponder Christ’s Seven Last Words from the cross.
Full childcare for nursery and grade school children available for the full duration of the service (email Abby or Heather with any questions (heather@adventdenver.com)
