The Faithfulness of Big Spruce by David Pucik

Big Spruce was a tree. I met him in a forest, which is quite a natural place to meet a tree. This tree was a grand tree. He was twelve feet wide and three hundred feet tall. And he was old.

 

"But Martha Was Distracted..."

 

 

But Martha was distracted with much serving.  And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.  But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary.  Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

On the church camping trip, Clint said that we would be sharing about God’s work in our lives during the past year for our Sunday morning church service.  So, I took some time Saturday afternoon for a solitary hike with my journal to reflect on the past year.  At first my reflections seemed very personal, but the more I reflected, the more I realized what a big part Church of the Advent played in them, and it only seemed fair to share them.
