A Note from Pastor Cindy

A note from Pastor Cindy, recently found in Peru.

Have you ever passed through a time that you were confused and sad and lonely?  Have you passed through a time when you were so tired your body ached and all you longed to do was sleep?  A time when, once it was over, you felt like saying - no, you absolutely had to say - ‘Hello, Me!  Welcome back!’  Of course you have.  I do not know what your time looked like. But this is what mine looked like.

Poppy's Steps

Smug with my first painting, I felt His hand on my shoulder.  “Wait a moment….consider how you got here.”

Mother – who participated with me in a charcoal class years ago.

Ron,  my husband, whose passion for art photography took me in many European museums.

Glorious fields of poppies in Northern Italy.

Judy at MHCD – her stunning, single poppy painting hangs at Sugar BakeShop for First Friday.

Annouk, a new friend, invited me to go to DAM and soak in the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit.

Lent and Babies

Navigating the season of Lent is a lot like raising a newborn baby. Whether through the discipline of confession or the bubbling up of selfishness during another midnight feeding, they each have a way of making me notice my own brokenness. Lent and fatherhood both ask me to introduce new rhythms into my life that steer me out of my comfortable ruts. I can’t look at my daughter or focus on what Jesus did on the cross without recognizing my own dependence upon my heavenly Father.

Kalevangelism, by Emily Fitzrandolph

A neighbor introduced me to fresh kale this summer.  I ate it for the first time and experimented with it drying in the oven. Not bad.

A month or so ago I discovered Brad’s Ray Leafy Kale at King Soopers.  Hmm, let’s give it a try.  Yummy!

Shared some with a friend.  She loved it, so I bought her a box and several more for myself.

Gave a box to my trainer: Mr. Skeptic.  Won over after one day.  “Can we buy a case.”

joy to the world

Katie At Six by Cindy Hamilton

She is sitting in front of a Christmas tree and her blonde hair is pulled into a ponytail on the top of her head.  She is struggling with a sniffley nose in a very cute, six-year old way.  It is hard to know what she had been singing before the video clip begins but she is ready to continue with another song.  She says, “This is one you know.”  It is absolutely precious, her assurance to the cameraman that he will know the song she is about to begin. &nbsp

The Faithfulness of Big Spruce by David Pucik

Big Spruce was a tree. I met him in a forest, which is quite a natural place to meet a tree. This tree was a grand tree. He was twelve feet wide and three hundred feet tall. And he was old.

"But Martha Was Distracted..."

But Martha was distracted with much serving.  And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.  But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary.  Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
